One of my tigers has a weird patch of missing colors and flesh it lokks like on the top of his head is this some sort of disease or more likely him fightin with a tankmate? Thanks guys

What else is in the tank? Have you noticed any agression? If you could post a pic it would be helpful. What other info could you provide?

Though it could be from fighting is sounds like Hole In The Head, or as it is often shortened on the forums HITH, you should take a picture and post just to make sure, but it is fairly common in Oscars seemingly.

What size of tank? filtration? tankmates does your Oscar have?

Your local LFS will sell many types of medication for treating but before applying any chems make sure it is HITH first, the best medicine is prevention, step up your water change routine, lighten your stock and/or upgrade your tank.

Ive noticed 0 aggression, 225G, xP3 filter, tank mates include
1 other tiger
2 peacock bass
2 albino sharks
1 silver aro
1 TSN
1 RTC
1 ornate bichir
1 fire eel
1 pleco
1 clown knife
all of which are under 6 inches i will try and post pics soon as possible thanks guys

Well, 1st problem I see is the its WAY overstocked for that filter, so Id immediately lean towards HITH. The XP3 is rated for up to 175 'Rena gallons' I believe, which means about a standard 90g realistically. You need WAY more filtration with that stocklist and size tank.

You are aware every single one of those fish gets over a foot arent you?

Tested the parameters? Id guess that your nitrates and ammonia are through the roof.

sorry VRWC i mistyped i have a xP4 filtering it and as for ammonia, ph, nitrate, nitrite etc etc they're all perfect and in the right range the temp is 78-82 i do a frequent water change and treatments. And yea i no they get pretty big

Ok, sounds like you checked all the basics. Maybe it is just a wound...Personally, even with an XP4, I think you need more filtration. Youre working with the bare minimum filter with what Id consider a maximum stocklist. Does the tank have overflows? If so, you might want to invest in a sump at some point...especially as those fish all start getting bigger.

As far as the oscar goes, it wouldnt be surprising if someone took a chunk out of him. Thats a lot of teeth in your stocklist and a lot of potential grouches that dont like others in their space. Do you have a pic of the oscars head in question?

dude, sounds like he's just missing scales from a wound ( scraped some tank ornaments or fighting) but the head sounds odd, add some salt and anti fungal just to be sure

Im looking into another filter actually as we speak any recommendations? All his tank mates except the ck are extremely laid back and relaxed, but its always possible. No overflows, and ill try and get some pics up soon.

No, dont add anything until you know what it is...unless you can quarantine him. Treating the tank with meds could kill the bichir and cost WAY more $$$ than you need to spend to fix it. Post a pic up first.
