can anyone ID this pleco? guy told me it was a tiger pleco

Its a great looking fish, but I have not a clue what sp it is.

do i have to feed him algae wafers? i keep a common pleco and he eats off the substrate and tank sides. but this pleco lives in my sand substrate tank.

all plecos require more food than just the junk that grows inside the tank. The best thing to do would be to correctly identify which ones you have exactly and the research the proper diet. It's a common misconception that all these animals need to eat is whatever grows on the glass, but a lot of them starve this way in captivity. Do a little research and feed them like you would any other fish

It looks like a king tiger or some similar type. In any case, it nis a hypancistrus. Omnivore and should be fed foods including lima beans (peeled), zuchini, cucumber, as well as common fish foods like shrimp pellets and algae wafers. Mine love spectrum sinking pellets. Also, be sure to keep some wood in the tank for them to rasp on.
