There does not seem to be much information on the Tiger rays, does anyone have any experience with them. It seems only a few people like them, anything I should know before buying one. Are they hard ot keep, and what is the best size to get one? How well do they do with other rays.

ive seen some stunning pics of adults, i know they are a little pricier than like motoros and such, but less than black rays. they will get big, VERY big and i think thats why not many people have them. the colors of adults are amazing though

From what I heard they are harder to keep and acclimatize. They grow kinda big too... may need a tank with a 4-5 feet width in the long run. Some of my pals tigers also suffer from sudden death syndrome. But they are beautiful rays to keep in ponds and huge monster tanks.

That sucks, I think that's probably my second favorite ray next to a BD, that I can't afford:ROFL:. Plus no i find out that my 900gal would not be large enough for one either , do they grow fast also?

A 900 gallon should be fine. A width of 4 feet or wider should be comfy cos they have pretty long tails.

Beautiful rays and quite docile compared to most others, but as said they get big. They are also hard to get eating cheap food, not easy and take a long time to breed and cheaper to buy new ones than to breed them.

Yeah but width is 3ft, but 10ft long.

3 feet is good for up to 4-5 years, their tails tips may break later on, but that should not affect their health. Width is more important than length to rays. For the same volume, go with 3.5 feet width and 8 feet length if you can.

I agree with David. My advice is to buy a conditioned and train one that eats dead food. Feeding live is going to cost you a bomb. In 5 years, a dead food trained BD will probably cost less than a Tiger on live food.

Sudden death syndrome ? Haven't heard this with tigers

Had 3 neighbors, all experienced ray keepers have theirs suddenly die during different times in their ponds while the other rays were ok.

Two conditioned adults, one was a wild caught mid sized one.

I have not tried them myself though.
