Could it work? I've found some 3"-3.5" fish for a decent price. My only option would be a few in my 6ft African tank. As of now the largest fish is around 6".

I wouldn't do any less than 5 to disperse aggression. They aren't aggressive to other fish, but will fight amongst each other.
