They are easy to keep as long as enough space is provided. I grew one from 4"-10" in one month. It died after swallowing a 5-6" Dovii Cichlid. It would eat whatever food was introduced to the tank and eat any tank mate it could get its mouth around.
I agree lot's of space is needed. defantly a large fish, that will eat almost anything to. mine will except chicken ,steak piece's and even bones pork from the chinese resturant in town lol awsome cats other wise and fairly hardy too provided your paremeter's are in reason ..
tiger shovel nose are a great member of the catfish family....just be prepared to accept a fish that will grow to sizes longer than 2-3ft in the future
