best to train them from day one...or when they r babies. other than that u have to basically starve them. mine starved for months with no results. now that my catfish live in a 5 foot deep pond its a lost cause...better luck for u i hope :s
yeh mine is outdoors cause i live in malaysia (always hot) but sum of the top quality pellets are hikari or AZOO....honestly any top brand is fine. hikari has always been my favourite though. the growth from massivore pellets are crazy!
I feed hikari sinking carnivore and hikari massivore pellets to all my shovelnose catfish, they are high in protein and promote fast growth. My catfish also get market shrimp, blood worms (when small), and nightcrawlers which are another great supplement for them and easy to come by ~Trent
but the problem comes when they get large and eat wayyyyyy too many hikari pellets. thats wen the pellets may break ure wallet. when ure catfish gets to over a foot u might wana swap to frozen food...try and avoid live food. too many parasites :s
Wow, everybody seems to love HIKARI. Can I but them in the US too?
And I can feed the nightcrawlers from the bait shop? (I heard they're only fed feces or something..)
Everything listed is less than $4.00 a pound...freezes and keeps well and can be cut to fit even the smallest guys with a pair of kitchen snips as you feed them.
