Im not a catfish expert. I bought it as tiger shovel nose. Its obviously not? Then i thought achara cat. But its not the same. Im sorry for the crappy pics in store but the way its hiding in tank pics wont be any better. He doesnt not have a wide flat mouth he has a more tapered more v shaped mouth.

It certainly doesn't look like any TSN I've ever seen. Does have a similar pattern, but the fish is def not pure TSN. Nice looking fish though. I'm sure one of the experts here can ID it for you.

If it has to be a TSN, which i am not, sure, than i would agree on a cross with marble.

But even so, should be darker imho.

Certainly a well known and relatively common hybrid TSNxLeiarius (Marble) - spill over of the food fish farmed in SA.

Well he is darker now. And thats the cross i thought he was. So was $20 at 6-7" ok?

Great price for a great hybrid! THis hybrid is very personable. Mine would eat out of my hand although took more work than a rtc x tsn did. Mine was rather agressive also. Just territorial imo. Had his hiding spot and would defend it well. I fed mine white sucker fish (live yes I know, I know) He would attack them from his hiding spot with lightning speed. He ousted any strangers that tried to come in his hole including the much larger rtc x tsn. I've seen them on MFK up to about 30" so far, but may get larger. I would plan for a 3.5' min max size on this guy. Be the first to grow him out huge so that we can know just how big they can get!!!! :)

Also mine was around 18" when I got it so can't speak about behavior of small ones.
