hi guyz,,,i have a 2-3inch tigershovel nose and was wondering which of his tank mates should be taken out of the tank before he scoffs them?
3*11-12 inch tinfoil barbs
2*10-11inch oscars
1*11-12 inch jag
2*7 inch silver sharks
1*7inch common plec
1*20ish inch gibbicep<sailfin plec
1*8inch vieja biff
1*6-7inch senagal birchir
1*5inch hoplo catfish<iam guessing he will have to go

jag, oscars, tinfoils, and sailfin should all be fine for a long time considering their large size starting out. Will take several years before he is large enough to eat any of those. The others might not be so lucky in 6 months to a year or more. He won't harrass any of them, just if he thinks he can eat them he will try. TSN are a true predatory fish, and stalk their prey and continuously size up everything in the tank for a potential meal. There was a member on here that had a 24" tsn eat a 19" tsn(if I remember correctly) once he starts to hit 7-9" you'll need to start taking out the smaller ones. Good rule of thumb is if they are shorter than he is, or not as tall as his head is wide, don't chance it.

I think that those tankmates would be fine, ive got a 10" TSN with other big cats and cichlids, TSN dont have a particulary large mouth.

well as to taking out some of the fishes...i would take out the 2 silver sharks, your hoplo catfish....but as of right now...you oscar may try to eat your lil 2-3"er...as a catsnack....and your jags may aggressively attack your lil TSN but as of what everyone said...just take those listed out but you can leae the oscar and jag in their with the tin foils...their fast anyways and grows to 14"ers...

My 22" ate two 4" snapping turtles. He digested one but took him a week to finaly throw up the second one. At 15" he ate 2 of my Pbass.
