tigrinus and gravel...

Is your gravel sharp or something? I've kept pims on gravel without any problems. I think as long as your gravel doesn't have real sharp edges or something you should be alright.

they are small gravels but are not smooth though. i got three bichirs in it and i don't seen an problem or scratches on their body. does this mean if i get a tig it would be safe too? don't want to loose an expensive fish just because of gravel.:(

Bichirs have scales so they may be a little more durable than pims, but you could still probably be alright. If it were me and the gravel was a concern, I would probably switch to sand or something or just go bare bottom. I wouldn't want to risk a tig, and you can change the substrate for pretty cheap.

I think you'll be just fine, I'm purchasing a tig when they are affordable again(in a month or so) and already keep my tsn and lima on it without problems and have kept various other sized limas with gravel and no problems. ~Trent

You can use small gravel as long as they are rounded on each pieces. Best way to tell is to put the gravel on a bucket and run your hand in and out of the gravel. If your hand hurts, then don't do it. If it doesn't hurt then the Tig will be fine. Tig skin is very soft, but not as soft as your hand.

I had to get rid of my slate pieces on my tank because I noticed some scratches on my tig and TSN after a while. Now all I have is 1/3" fine pieces of gravel bed.
