I had a post awhile ago with my Tigrinus catfish. The next grow out tank for him is a 125 with undergravel filters and I have pea-gravel on it. Afew people said he will eat the gravel, Idk if this is true but it's got me paranoid. Is there another way to keep the filters in the tank? I don't want to have to take them out and take all the gravel out if I don't need to. Like could I put a layer of glass on top of it or would that just make mor problems?
thanks!

Post title edited for clarity and moved to catfish. Hopefully you'll get some replies now.

I wouldn't be as worried about him eating the gravel as I would be the absolute destruction of the undergravel system with the amount of waste. If anything it would be reverse flow.

Yeah personally I am not a big fan of under gravel filters... Tigrinus need excellent filtration and I'm not sure the UG filter will cut the cheese... Are you not able to run a canister filter or sump?
Only other thing worth mentioning is I believe Tigrinus need quite a bit of flow/current, somebody correct me if I am wrong.

Theirs (3) 110g filters on the back, (2) jets and (2) air pumps = 140g with a sponge filter. I'm just seeing if anyone else would say he would eat the gravel. He's eating Rosie's also, so I'm guessing the other guy was thinking I was going to give him worms and pellets. I am going to get him on shrimp and talapia but that won't be intill he's larger and in the sand of my other tank when he's alot bigger.

Anyone else?

Dose anyone think he would eat the gravel or just over thinking the problem?

anything is possible ime... one of those "make the best judgement call" you can.. I personally would rip out the UG ect and not chance it..BUT thats me. tigs are hard to find, and hard to raise from my understanding, not to mention expensive. not the only motivators.. but big ones imo to consider.

You will have no issues at all with the gravel. Think about it, it's a possibility in the wild, there is gravel in the rivers of South America...generally what I've noticed first hand is that if a Tig or any fish for that matter gets gravel while attempting to get food it filters it out through their gills or if it's bigger spits it back out. I've kept Tig's for years in sand blasting gravel (very fine gravel) and on river rock bottom tanks without issue. Hope that dispells any rumors and whoever told you that was a major issue clearly doesn't know what they are talking about.

The issue of water quality and flow however are notable and should be addressed.
