How often do you feed your tig and how much per feeding ? I know that overfeeding is an issue (mostly with juveniles) .....also I recently read that being not the most active predator in the wild, skipping a couple of days bet. meals in captivity is recommanded .
I have a 12 " tig and it gets every day a couple of pieces of small market shrimp and 3-4 massivore pellets......in your opinion is that too much/ too often? thnks.

just wait until your fish no longer looksbloated from last feeding. for my ornate that is around 5 days, for my lima cat that is around 2 days so it just depends

I like devder1's idea. Which is usually my rule too. Feed the catfish until their belly swells a bit, but not too much. Then wait for the swelling to go down.

They usually say to feed young cats every day and when they get older, to give them a few days between feeding to let them digest their meal.

I used to feed my old tig everyday. He would get a few shrimps and scallops, enough to just make his belly grow. Then the next day he would be ready for more.

I did do water changes everyday, so I'm sure that aided me in being able to feed him everyday.

Same here,I mostly feed my juvenile raw smelt, shrimp, and earthworms when I can get them.

I feed all my brachyplatystoma species about 1-2 times per week once they are over a foot. I know Tig's don't eat as frequently in the wild or in captivity as say TSN but in my opinion and through experience 1-2 times a week is more than enough. Each feeding would vary but included earthworms, market shrimp, hikari massivore pellets, and any fd krill that made it to the bottom of the tank ;)
