Hey guys - just ordered 8x of these from liveaquaria.

http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=830+831+962&pcatid=962

Apparently that was too many - because we got the box today (did the order with another person) and they were not included.

At any rate - I WILL be getting these fish sooner or later.

For starters they will be going into a cycled 110g poly tank...and I am hoping to get a "pair". (If that is what these guys do)

I am aware of their max size - and they will be properly accomodated. My lab is hoping to breed them - so any and all information on husbandry of these guys will be appreciated.

Sooner or later there will obviously be some pictures on this thread as well.

Thanks guys!

No one here has any experience with these fish? No husbandry tips?

Has anyone bred them, and if so where are your breeding tips.

Help a non cichild guy out! I always like to have experience on my side when it comes to dealing with fish.

They are nasty, nasty beast, one of the meanest fish I've owned. I have no experience in breeding them, but chances are you'll end up with one living and the rest dead.

Alright - and thanks guys - maybe a mod could move this thread to the more appropriate location? I picked too hastily.

+1. Haven't kept them, but know a few folks who have had them. Not really a very social creature.

How big were their tanks?

How big were their fish when they started?

What were they stocked with?

150g, heavily stocked African cichlids. I bought him when he was 2 inches. He doubled in size in less than 2 months and started his terror reign! I had to remove him before he becomes a serial killer. I love the black and white contrast though. He was a looker! But the whites do fade when they get to 8+ inches.

These guys will be all by their lonesome. Going to attempt to get them to pair off - and then sell off the rest most likely.

(Either that or set up a couple breeding pools for different pairs)

Hopefully this will reduce aggression.

They are crazy. Mine breaks everything from heaters to power heads to filters and plastic plants.
