right i got given some fry about a year and a bit ago
i know there tilapia but cant find anything like them anywere
i'd like to know what sort of fish it is .....thats eating me out of house and home ! i can help a little there female for a starter and the males were a dull brown colour with a metalicy stripe on there top lip. these are a lovely pink colour with typical egg spots on the back fins , they are fairly placid towards each other with no real trouble at all , but eat ! a full lettuce a day easily so if anyone knows anything about them i'd love to hear many thanks .

They do not have the "shape" of mossambicus.

My guesses are 1) If they are a pink variant, then probably a hybrid. 2) If they seem to be more or less "natural pinkish gray, then they are most likely Oreochromis esculentus.

mmm in the past couple of days one of the females has transmorphed into a male , still showing the pink colour but in a very bright vivid way , it looks very impressive , also now one of the other females is holding eggs and the others are showing signs of ripening , i'll post some more pics of them they have just grown massivly almost overnight so it seems

even though it is none related i had that happen with a chicken! it started out laying eggs! then started crowing and the feathers made it look like a rooster! one of the judges even said it was a rooster! but it still layed eggs!

but to answer your question it does seem to be a strain of the mozambique!
