well, i bought this tilapia and since i bumped him to a bigger fish tank, and removed the powerheads, he has figured out he's alot bigger than the other fish!

i have 2 jewels (mated) and 1 convict. the convict used to harrass all the fish. now, well, the tide has turned. the tilapia is a big, hungry fish ALL the time. he must have a bottomless stomach...

so i'm going to turn in the 2 jewels. what would do well the tilapia? maybe a similarly sized oscar or jd? i dunno man. so dudes, any ideas would be great.

thanks.

Depends on the Tilapia species. The Buttikoferi will not play nice and will require a big bad tankmate. I have mine with large Endchi. & Palmas Bichirs, huge trumpet knife, and a Jaguar Cichlid.

The Nile Tilapia are not quite as agressive, but still beasts. Tankmates are a much smaller Dovi, Two Ornate Bichirs, a Sax. Pike Cichlid, two tiger loaches and an asian knife.

My polleni Tilapia are not agressive at all and are currently in my Malawi cichlid tank at easily twice the size of the mbuna juviniles. The rift cichlids are more agressive then the polleni tilapia, but they are tough enough to take a little harassment!

im not sure what type he is. he is gold colored mostly that gives off a beautiful blue/green sheen. he has a white on his underside, a sure sign of a monster fish. he is also developing black spot like streaks on his sides, like a peacock bass.
know wat im sayin?

convict is slightly smaller than the tilapia.

tank is a 120: 4' long by 2' wide by 2' high.
why do ya ask?

That sounds like a Pink tilapia or possibly a blue tilapia with washed out colors. You should be good in your 120 with a JD or Oscar as tankmates. The JD or Oscar should be larger! The Buttikoferi Tilapia (Hornet) look somewhat similar to a convict with a white body and large vertical solid black bands.
