Tile! Your bound to spill water at somepoint and you don't want it to be on carpet..

Hello; I plan to use the comercial grade floor tiles at some point, not the ceramic type. On a cement slab you also have the option to put down an epoxy coating with the little rubber non skid chips that is for a garage.

Thanks!!! for the response...what a great site...helping each other! ALSO HELPS ME SAVE SOME $ FOR The NEW CARPET I PROMISED MY WIFE!
PEACE...& Thanks again!!!

i'm also on a concrete slab.. in the room that i plan on putting up my 800 gallon tank i am going to stain the concrete and seal it. no tiles to break, no risk of tiles coming loose.. and some of the concrete stains are VERY nice. i know we can't use acid stains legally here in Riverside, CA. but i think you can in other counties. and i know they are legal in other states. but Lowe's sells a very nice opaque stain that "looks" like acid staining.

I would definitely do tile around the immediate tank area.
