My fish room
I guess this is a bit of a noob question. I saw a pic of a tank recently that had the floor tiled. It looked really cool. Is it safe for fish? I am assuming grout is not. What type of tile is the safest and what type would work best? I can cut tile to fit so I am definately interested in doing this in my spare 75 gallon.

nothing wrong with tile just dont use the grout. if you must bond things together use aquarium sealant. i use the back side of tile in my caves cause its the rougher side and fish like to lay there eggs on it

I hadn't thought about using aquarium sealant. Good idea. :headbang2

glad i could help

You really dont need to adhere them down. Ive done this before and all you need is a tight fit and beveled edges so that they can lay flat on the silicone bead the runs the corners of glass. They are basically rock and have no room for leverage so no fish will likely overturn them. Then if you dont want them anymore or dont and to drain and dry your tank to install them you dont have to mess with silicone

Don't mean to thread hyjack. But has anyone used tile as a background? Because I've just seen tile used on the bottom............

I haven't seen it but it couldn't be too hard with some RTV adherent and some tile pieces :naughty:
