you still have to grout the joints.

No you don't

If you just want to add tile then cut it to fit and drop it in. No worries. there is no real reason that it couldn't be in a ply tank.

I'd be worried about the slightest tank-flex... It would have to be seriously overbuilt.

I agree, thats probably why tile is fastened with cement or at least mounted on a concrete style board (hardie-board or something similar)- because like you said theres no room for flex

There's someone who tiled the inside of his turtle pond. Swimming pools are tiled partially. You'd have to use silicone as grout and the tiles would have to be non-porous.

showers, tubs, and pools that are tiled use grout for grout and its water tight, I dont believe silicone would stick very well to tile, but I could be wrong- I think the silicone idea would work if you used it as the actual mounting material, instead of cement-

A friend of mine recently bought a new 120g tank, and as he closed his door to leave the place of purchase, broke the front or rear pain- so I was thinking to put the bottom glass at the broken spot and tile some plywood for the bottom- so Im very interested in this thread-

i think it would work. just brace the plywood so theres not alot of room for flex. silicone the tiles in place then silicone in between the tiles..Sounds easy but im scared to try it myself lol
