Tile:Is it waterproof...for a pond-please look!

Hi everyone..so I'm in the middle of gathering ideas before I construct my pond, but wanted to know what you guys think about tiling the inside of a pond..if its waterproof...is there a special type of grout to use...
this is what got the wheels turning so to speak...


I'm in awe of whoevers tank this is!!!

If you use waterproof grout, it is waterproof. We had a tile swimming pool when I was a kid.

^^^ That, or use a clear waterproof sealer over top of the tiles.

Keep in mind when you are building the structure of the pond that tile and grout ,regardless of what kind, don't flex well. Your tank will need to be quite rigid.

Sorry, I'm kinda confused, but what do you mean?

Nice waterproof grout...and I might go overboard and do the clear waterproof sealer just incase!

I was thinking about doing tiles after I found out how much the pond liner would cost and at the home depot near me (at least a week ago or so) they had some nice tan colored tiles for about 52 cents each
At that price, WHY NOT do tiles right!!?!?

Hes saying that your tank had to be able to resist flex and warp otherwise your tiles will crack. But they do have water proofing seals for grout that you can find at your local hardware store.

well what I was planning on doing was this: doing 2x4x8's overlaped on top of one another (the tanks dimensions are 8x4x4-but will only be filled up 2 ft) then doing concrete board on the inside, and then the tile...that should be ok right if its only filled about 2 ft up? is a center brace needed?
any thoughts/suggestions?

You guys do relies that grout sealer wares off over time right and has to be resealed?

no, but im sure we realize it. You can always use cement sealer, pond sealers, epoxy and a whole lot more.
