Want to put some natural tile in the bottom of my pond for better viewing. Don't want to use rock or gravel to stop cats from swallowing it. What kind of tile would be safe? How about travertine? Looking for a light tile.

I'm interested too.

I've seen tiles used in ponds, and reptile enclosures but I have no idea what kind.

I'm most likely just going to end up with sand on the bottom of my pond anyways as it will be used for rays.

travertine looks nice, but make sure you get good pieces..it is natural so every piece will be different.alot of it has holes through it.ive did flooring for a couple years and have seen all diff. types.about 3 months back i had a guy who built houses, and had a connect with good prices for his personel house.it was so cheap he ended up returning close to 1500 squar feet....big pain.if you dont mind holes through it get the cheapest stuff you can get....ALSO it is VERY VERY britle.i can slightly tap it and it brakes....looks fantastic though, and is "hot" in the market right now

slate tiles - fantastic natural colour when wet - comes in different sizes

Two concerns with slate. One is darker color and second, possible high iron content.

Glazed tiles aren't an option?

Being non glazed on the bottom and being that I want to just lay them in the bottom, not install permanently yet, I didn't think they would work.

Thought about that, just trying to be cheap.
