tile substrate? (noob question)

What type of tile is safe to use? just silicone them to the bottom and silicone inbtwn the tiles?


I tried searching but came up empty.

i think people just put them in there. vinyl i suppose..

Don't silicone them. Very bad idea. Just have them cut as close as possible to your tank's width and length and lay them down. I prefer to get a dark tile because algae tends to grow on light colored tile. There's a huge thread about people's tiled tanks with great info, just search for it.

any stone tile, if you don't at least silicone the seams where the pieces meet you will get quite a bit of crap trapped underneath
