I just picked up a 125gal and thought of going bare bottom but was told that using ceramic tile would be much better for a good bio load, i was thinking of going granite any thoughts or suggestions. The foot print is 72"x18" so i was thinking of goin 16x16 tiles and a little bit of gravel on the open sides. What do you think? Thanks, Joe

I like the whole using tile as substrate idea for the simple fact that it's a lot easier to clean and still gives a nice look compared to bare bottom.

post pix if it works im doin it in my tank

Might want to set the tile on eggcrate, or a bed of sand or something to keep it up off the bottom of the tank. It's very likely to scratch or chip the glass if its resting right on top of it, especially if it gets shifted about at all during cleaning or by fish.

Other than that, I think it could be a very cool look. Make sure to post pics if you do try it, because I'd like to see the finished product.
