Please help, I have just being told that the tiles I've brought are no good for my tank buts it's a bit late as I've already put them in, they are glazed porcelain tiles,I watched a video on YouTube from the king of DIY and he said any tile would be fine, please help I'm not sure whether to take them out asap or what to do, thank you

What where these tiles intended for ? Floor tiles? I do not see a reason why they will not work. Keep an eye on your tank if you see anything funky going on in your tank in a couple of weeks pull them out. That what I would do and I have rays

Yeah I have rays, they are floor tiles, it looks amazing a lot better then a bare bottom adds a bit of texture for the fish

I can not think of why they wouldn't be applicable for an aquarium. what was the reason given?

Leeching heavy metals and chemicals in to the water, but porcelain is inert I think and the glaze must be water proof and fired I a kiln, it's just got my head spinning, been looking all day on the web but I can't find which tiles everyone used and there is no info on the subject, I give them a good scrub in a bucket of tank water before placing them, it just my fish mean the world to me just as a dog would to another family, secondly there just so god dam expensive

if you are that worried about it then soaked a bunch in a 5 gallon bucket for a week.or two and then get the water tested. I have never heard of tiles leaching heavy metals though. most of that stuff burns of during the kiln proceas

porcelain is fine for aquarium. i use colored slate tiles and it looks like something going to leech out any moment but fishes are fine.
