I've always liked the look of bare bottom tanks and I recently found out placing tile at the bottom of tanks is a thing and IMHO it looks good. Anybody here using tile in place of a substrate? How is it?

Fantastic.
clean up is extremely easy. I just lift the tiles up and wipe down underneath the tile with an algae scrubber.

If you like during tank setup, you can silicone the tiles to the glass and each other. Then you don't have to worry about anything under the tile.

cleaning up is so easy...

from my experience, once in 2-3months, you need to lift up all the tiles, because no matter how snug fit your tiles are, there would still some tiny debris slip underneath it.

once you clean all those debris, you can just put the tiles back in. should not take you long tho, it depends on how big your tank is. took me like 30 minutes to lift up all the tiles, clean the small debris real quick, put the tiles back in, on a 8' x 2.5' footprint.
