"Tilefish"? Is this a saltwater fish?

Definately salt, look at some of the inhabitants on the related videos.

It is a saltwater fish.... kinda tastes like grouper....

Its a cool fish though.

Cool, but aquarium Tilefish (genus Hoplolatilus) are a pain in the arse to maintain. Picky feeders and really jumpy.

awsome fish :)

ive owned a few tilefish, 1 skunk and about 4 purples. some of them can be a pain to get to eat, others carry a nasty clear fish lice that is pain to located and eradicate. and sometimes when they are collected poorly they develop a "butt float" condition that is, as far as i know, uncorrectable. my 5 specimens were A+ however and ate right out of the bag. great fish. not recomeded to inexperienced aquarists, but definetly rewarding for someone willing to devote the time required (getting them to eat and then 3 times a day feeding)
