I have a Magnum 350 for my 125 with my Oscars and Firemouths. And last night I noticed that it isn't pushing as much water as it used to.

I never really paid attention to it, until last night I actually thought about when I first set it up. The ripple it would create on the surface was about 10X as much as it creates now.

So I lifted up the outlet and it has a very weak flow. I never really thought about how much it had changed, and even after water changes and everything, there is kind of a film on the surface and the nitrates have been high since this weekend. I have already done 2 pretty decent sized water changes, and there is next to nothing coming out of the gravel when I siphon it.

Some recommendations and expected prices on good filters would be greatly appreciated...I could always just use the 350 on the 55 until it totally craps out on me.

Thanks a ton

..I would like to make a W/D, but don't know the specifics as far as what sized tank I would need to start with, and what kind of pump or gals/hr.

W/D wound be better but check the impeller. it mught just need a good clean

I took it apart lastnight and cleaned everything really good...but it didn't make a difference

Maybe it pushing to much? Try and raise the Filter and shorten the lines. Also is it running straight up and down? The outlet.

Yeah the lines are pretty much straight up and down. The canister is under the tank. And I don't really have any other options. But I have had it there since I started using the filter. I am just wondering why the flow has decreased that bad.

what filter are you runing in it the carbon or the mic. this filter is not a good one if you use it as a main filter i have one on my 90 just for microns "spelling i know" and i have to clean the filter weekly i have to white filters for it so one sits in water and rinses out over the week then i change them. i run to ac 110 on my 90 and they work great. good luck

So you just use the white filter? Not the carbon with the blue bag?

What is a good filter I could pick up to set up for the main filter then?
