Well the heater crapped out today so it's time for a new one. I have a 55g which needs to be 75 degrees. I haven't been in the market for heaters in a while and was wondering what you guys have found to be reliable. I was thinking about a RENA or Jager. What have you guys found to be good?

yah the 150 jager was one of the two i was considering but i've heard they sometimes have issues with not shutting off driving the temp up to lethal levels.

I use a jebo 300w, aqueon 300w, and an old school marineland stealth heaters. Aqueon heaters never gave me a problem. I would steer away from from the new line of marineland heaters though. There have been several threads on explosive marineland heaters.

If you run a canister filter you might consider a Hydor ETH in line heater. They hold the temp good and get the giant glass heater tube out of the tank. This just gives a much nicer appearance. Or go with the Rena that can also double as the intake tube on your canister.
