Well I am ready to order my glass for my 225 plywood build. I went to a local place and asked them about a piece the size I need and they told me it would be $185.00 US. This is for a sheet of glass that is 71 3/4" L x 24" T and 1/2" thickness, is this a good price or should I look around some more? Also, they said that I would not need a piece of tempered glass for my tank since it is only the front. I found this a little odd, I thought tempered was the only way to go or am I wrong here. Please help me out with this situation as I am really wanting to order my glass :naughty:

Plate glass my friend. Tempered will shatter if it breaks, plate (should) allow you time to get your fish out if it cracks. Flame me if I'm wrong, sorry guys...just what I was told. I paid $120 roughly for 45x26" 1/2" plate

My 240 is 24" T and I went with 3/8" as according to GARF. This gives me a safety factor of 2.5.

I went to my LFS, They orders tanks, and his Distributor cut the AQ plate glass for me.

It Cost me $120 tax incl.

61 1/4" long x 21 3/4" tall 1/2" thick plate glass from www.glasscages.com was $99 + tax so about $110 BUT they won't ship one pc of glass. they will meet you with it somewhere if there heading in that direction for a fee. so my total cost is gonna be $144.65 total. thats them meeting me about 15 miles from my house

Found a local place that has my glass in stock for $122.44 out the door and free delivery to my home. Guess who I am going with :) Thank you all for the replies.
