Well, after owning my Leopard ctenopoma for 5 or so years, it appears he is giving in.:( I found him when i woke up at the surface gasping for breath and just now noticed him stuck to the filter intake......i'm not sure if this is a factor in his soon-to-be-death, but a year back i stuck a friends convict cichlid in the tank for a favor for a day or so, and it immediately started to terrorize my ctenopoma, which resulted in my ctenopoma losing sight in one of his eyes, he was just never the same again. I just find it so odd because yesterday he was acting like he normally acted after the convict incident (hiding under drift wood looking at me) and now he is about to croak off...:( any opinions on the matter?

He died 30 minutes ago.:(

Sorry to hear that.
<--- I just lost my (much younger) leopard earlier this week. It's one of my favorite types of fish and I'm hoping for a replacement soon. I can imagine your disappointment though, I had a tough time saying goodbye to mine and he was less than a year old.

Ohh no I'm sorry :(. I love these little guys so much, such a shame to have yours go. 5 years is a good life for a fish, I'm sure you treated him well!

He was a decent size, around 5 and a half inches. If only the convict didn't wound his eye, he would of been so much more active and maybe wouldn't have died...

I'd get another at petsmart, but they are like 1-2inches long. small expensive spiny fish + large hungry fish= two dead fish + one sad owner
