Bout two Weeks ago I purchased an adult male green terror for my 180 gallon.. Since I got him all he does is hide and try to get away from me when I walk into the room.. This is the first time ive ever bought a adult fish instead of growing out myself.. Will this fish act like this for good, or will he finally calm down and swim gracefully?

He is a pretty fish with great coloration but if he dont snap out of this stressfulness, I will sale him..

I have raised green terrors for a few years and find that they can be a tempermental fish. Some Ive owned absolutlely where not shy at all and others where kinda shy like yours. The reason I say tempermental is because is either they are ruler of the tank and all is good or if they get bullied they tend to stop eating and wither away and become sick. I see with your stocking that there should be nothing in there bullying him which is weird.. Like the squirtle said give him some time. I do have one question though. Is your male green terror eating ok? One more thing is he wild caught because I own a F0 green terror male and he is somewhat shy more so than tank bred green terrors ive owned.

No im sure he is not wild caught, I bought him from a Lfs. He is every bit of 8", and he eats just fine.. In fact, the only time he comes out of hiding is to eat!!!

I have an 8 1/2" male Green Terror that does the same thing. He's a nice looking fish but extremely shy and spooks easily. I got mine when I bought his tank from a guy on Craigslist. The tank was in a college party pad so I think this guy is perma-spooked. I've had him for around 8 months now and he's always been this way so that could be the case with yours.

Oh wow thats good then he is eating anyways. Yeah you have dithers in there to so that is kinda strange why he would be so spooked. In my opinion I have never been a fan of super shy fish I dont care how good looking a fish is. If its shy whats the point if you never see it. You could throw a female green terror in there also maybe that will get him to come out.

Yeah it is strange because he was acting fine at the lfs in the 55gal tank they had him in... Adding a female is a good idea!!! Im keeping my fingers crossed though... Today I did a water change, and also took about 50 pounds of sand out of my 180 because he was piling it up so high, since I did that, hes acting a little better!!
