Just wondering if they can be fine alone..? recently i had a power out for a few days and it killed 3 but i still have one left and he seems to be doing fine i have 135 gallon tank should i get more?

they are a schooling fish they prefer to be in schools but I am sure it will be fine alone. it will just want to be with others.

We had one before and they're pretty neurotic alone. They will school with any type of schooling fish though, as long as you don't get anything they can swallow.

My 3 tins swim together or with the common/comet goldfish I have. I never seem them alone though.

Maybe you should get a battery operated air pump that goes on when the power goes off?

Why not just go get one? The fish will be happier, You get to buy another fish (always a high for me). See your lfs and what is new in there. And maybe even talk some fish smak with someone.:D

have heard you can keep them on there own..but they become more aggresive and skittish

schooling fish always do better in a school IMO. They act like spastic idiots on their own, but I've never had barbs, so they may be different.
