tinfoil barbs as dithers for CA tank-JD, Salvini,Pleco

Just bought two tinfoil barbs from petsmart. hope their red tail. They only had 2 the size I want. was going to use them as dithers for my JD Salvini Pleco tank which is 90G 4' long. I also have a 6' long severum tank I love. Was hoping the barbs would get the JD and Sal out swimming a bit. THey are beautiful fish(sal and JD) but never swim around. was hoping these fish would liven up the tank. What do you think of this combo. lf this tank is a peaceful set up I may move to my 6' tank and move the severums to the 90G

It is peaceful. So i would do that. Tinfoil Barbs need a LOT of swimming space. They'll get up to 13" or more. And they are FAST. They need a much longer tank than 4'.

JD's are just known for liking to hide out in wood piles etc. So dont expect him to come out. If he does, great. But he might not still.

Tinfoils are pretty good dithers, though they are very LARGE dithers. Silver dollars would have been a better choice for that setup.


Anyways, its a good mix, but i would move them to the 6' tank as they grow.
