Hey I have been raising 2 tinfoil barbs and they are now 4 or 5 inches now and I was wondering is there anything specific that is a best food for them? Because right now they eat flakes pellets and the bloodworms and brine shrimp that i feed my cichlids that they share a tank with. Any info?

I have had 4 I bought about 6 months ago and they are about that size.
They really like the seaweed clipped to the side of the tank and some frozen peas once a week.

They really go nuts for night crawlers too.

The funny thing note is I originally bought them to run interference between my bass so no bullying or fights would break out. They have since become great pets.

ME 2 lol I will try these because they are staring to get bloaty. I think that will stop with an increased vegi diet

I had a school of 5 that were 14". They are omnivores so a little bit of everything.

Bloodworms are fine but throw in some pellets and veggies as well.

We got them as dither fish for the mbuna, but they are cooler, imho! I like to feed them the odd things I find around, like slugs from the anole tank or earthworms that come out of the soil. It doesn't matter what it is, the barbs gobble it down! I've only had mine for 2 months and they went from 2" to 4.5". We feed them 3 X a day, just because it's fun. I know I should feed them less so they grow more slowly so we can keep them longer, but they're such strong, buff fish, it's really cool. We give them frozen foods, peas almost daily, algae wafers, cichlid pellets & mosquito larvae. They ate most of my plants, too. Now I throw in the trimmings from the other tanks - they never last long.
