There are places in my area (central texas) that I know of that have literally thousands of these little small frogs or toads. They are about the size of a thumbnail and even smaller and live in tunnels under roads near most any stream or ditch. Would they be a great source as a feeder? I am not sure what these frogs are, but there is a whole chorus of them and been thinking about trying some of them for my gar and small arows. Or should I stear clear?
Thanks!!!

Just check to make sure that there aren't any poisonus frogs or toads in your area. I found a little frog in my garden the other day. Dropped it in with my snakeheads and it got nailed. Nothings happened so far. Might want to QT them tho.

frogs are very great food for our monsters.
i catch some leopard frogs for my pbass and arows.
BUT u have to be sure that they:
1. are not poisonous
2. dont carry parasites
3. small enough to fit in ur fish mouth (fish can choke while trying to gulp them)

check local regulations too, just because there are thousands of them in one place doesnt mean they are not a protected or endangered species

Amen. Locally in my province, almost all the native frogs are restricted or off-limit. There are only two species I think we are allowed to keep: wood frog and boreal chorus frog... even though I see a billion leopard frogs (endangered) everywhere. I need go back and check the law on that before I go out and catch them.

...But these frogs look more like tiny toads actually.
The reason I brought this up is....
When I was around 13 I was told by an LFS dude he would give me 15 cents for every one of those little frogs I could bring in. I had taken some into him, my favorite LFS, and asked the wizard what they were. He said they are excellent feeders. But when I brought him a whole pickle jar full...crammed full...:D ...he wouldn't count them and gave me 5 bucks instead. :irked: I could have made at least 50 bucks!

Off topic...so anyways I will just have to find out what they are, check for parasites...and try them out. I will check the laws too...thanks everyone.
