so was cleaning tank today and noticed worms stuck to side of tank and others swimming in the water... they are real tiny.. must be up to glass to see. you can see them wiggling through the water anyone know what these are.. i'm going to try and look it up after im done doing water change. Thanks!

ok had 2 dead crayfish might be from them? seen descriptions of nematodes.... swimming like "s" that is what they are doing... don't overfeed so unsure... think its the crayfish torn apart....finding shells under sand and pike's belly is big...

they are all over this tank... and not in my african tank.. any thoughts are appreciated!!

Some type of detritus worm. They are harmless. Little fish will eat them. Cut down on feeding and do frequent gravel vacs and you will get rid of them or atleast cut down their numbers. I have them in all my planted tanks, and I actually like them. I feed them to small fish too and they make great fry food.

Planaria most likly. Harmless and yes some fish will eat them. They are usually an indication that too much crap has built up in the substrate. A few good gravel vacs with your water changes and they should go away.

I agree with the above comments, clean the gravel well and any nooks that can collect waste.

If you don't have any scaleless fish you can treat with a copper med. Aquari-sol is not too bad and will kill them. Remove the carbon before you copper.

dont believe them. have you seen the movie tremors? they live underground and will come up through your substrate and swallow your fish.:nilly::nilly:

thanks guys! i stirred up the sand and was finding dead cray fish parts.. the worms are cool looking just got a little scared...

They are not planaria. Every time someone hears "worms" they assume it's planaria. There is alot more "worms" in aquariums. These are detritus worms, a type of nematode.

Planaria do not swim around the water column either.
