My house
Although I have had a plant or two before I mostly just helped my mom care for her aquatic plants growing up or maybe tried to keep a couple of amazon swords that bit the dust faster than a leprechaun with diarrhea.

I know I posted these in the photo thread but I did not think it would be appropriate to ask for any advice or comments.

I am hoping that the hygrophila corymbosa compact (in front of the log) will carpet and I thought that I would allow the lily to reach up toward the top. As I have already said in the other post I am still waiting for driftwood to water log.

That being said I would like to hear your thoughts. With the hope that I can do a bit better next time. Also, if anyone has a suggestion for more, interesting, low light plants for my Bichir baby I would love to hear about them.

I have a DIY CO2 system that pumps out about 132 bpm. I have been testing my water regularly and it has been stable and I do a 30 percent water change daily. The tank is a 55 with a T8 bulb (I know it shouldn't be growing things...but it is) and is situated in an area where it receives a good amount of sun from a eastern window.

The plants are Anubia coffeefolia, Anubia petite, Wendtii Crypt, Fresh water seaweed, Hygrophila corymbosa compact, Java fern, and Java Moss.

Thanks for the help

Looking good! You're off to a great start :)

The driftwood at the surface level, right side. I am not positive by the photo, but it looks like it's blocking most of the light on the right side, forward plants. You may have some issues with growth in these plants if so. You may want to move your driftwood forward and/or your plants back. Or, maybe some other combination.

But, like I said to start with, looking good!

Thanks! The two pieces of driftwood at the surface are free floating with my tank only partially full and my HOB filter there is a lot of surface tension that pushes both pieces around. I would water log them in a different container and simply put them into the tank when they are done but my hubby has a hand made turkish rug on the bedroom floor. It is already difficult enough to manage water changes without splashing onto the rug and dealing with the (understandable) pissy attitude. They do block a bit of light but I try to make sure that they move in a way that allows everything to still get some light...

With any hope these two will finish sinking soon. Right now they have been floating for a week total.

Gotcha :)

It's going to look great once you get it all set up the way you want! I am sitting here with a large piece of holey rock and 4 large pieces of driftwood on the coffee table. I am trying to get the ambition to redo my 150 (again!).

If the floating pieces of wood aren't permanent I wouldn't worry about it!

Unfortunately, I planted all that Java Fern inot the substrate. I pulled it all up and today I am going to go ahead and tie them all of onto lava rock. It will take some time but be worth it.
