I have 4 hystrix and they are currently eating night crawlers. Please help with tips to convert to eating shrimp. Thanks

I cut up raw/frozen/peeled shrimp (pea-size) and mix it with the cut night-crawlers. (At first I was letting the shrimp soak in the worm juice.) Keep doing this and have patience and the rays will figure out it is food.

Thanks did you stuff the shrimp into the worms?

No, I actually tried to tie a worm around & thru the shrimp but had no success. You can maybe stuff pellets in the worms easier than shrimp.

Any other tips anybody?

You Just have to be very patience my rays took 6 month. You have to trick them, everytime when their in a worms feeding frenzy drop a very small piece of shrimp in. A good start is to Trick them to swollow a very small piece by mistake.

Yeah really easier said than done. I'm gonna try to starve them a bit

You can work with them for half a year, i had to do this with one ray, but the 8 others took it after a week or two.. Cut nightcrawlers up in small pieces, put them in box, cut some shrimp in really small pieces, put them in the same box, add a little water(often there is water in the shrimps so you dont need to add), put the top on, shake it a little, let it stay in your refrigerator overnight. Then, ONLY feed the shrimp, not the worm pieces.. Do this for 3-4 days, if they dont take it, bulk them up again on nightcrawlers for 2-3 days, and start it all over again!!

IMO its the only way!

Ok thanks I'll definitely try that. These guys are some stubborn sons of a gun!
