tips for breeding jags

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
1. Have a male and a female.
2. Have a large enough tank. I have a breeding pair in a 90.
3. Keep the water clean.
4. Feed them very well.

good advice, but i normally keep more than 1 female as spare, or you can stick to 1 and have divider handy just in case the male get boisterous post breeding

agree with the above, definitely be ready to split them, or try the partial divider method (or whatever it is referred to as).

I have also found with my mated pair that the males can be very boisterous towards the female. My male was constantly harrassing my female to the point where she had a few split fins and missing scales. I wouldn't really call it fighing though, it seems like she wasn't as ready to breed again and he was getting impatient lol.
