Picked up a nice healthy 6 inch CK from the LFS yesterday and they had him on feeders. I don't use feeders due to disease concerns so i'd like to get him off of them as fast as possible. Any hints tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

now that hes in new surroundings it is the best opportunity to change his diet pattern cause of the new surroundings. just dont put any feeders in and regularly introduce him to wtv type of food u want him to eat...bout twice a day? wait for 15 mins...if he doesnt take it...net it out...repeat until success

Starvation. Clown knives usually aren't very picky.

buy silversides and get some long tweezers adn wiggel it like a live fisha dn he might eat it thats what i did with mine and my eels they now eat freezed dried krill from that method.

If it's thick and healthy, Starve it out.. My inherited CK eats cichlid pellets.. Took him a few weeks but he got hungry. Pellets are 10x more nutritional.

Even if you get healthy goldfish and get past diseases and parasites, they contain a substance that makes the fish that ingest them vitamin deficient. This can have long lasting detrimental effect.

makehim grow upto a decent size before you train him to pellets, all young fishes are fragile

You could try going to fresh shrimp. Mine loves it. Buy large and cut up into small pieces. Also night crawlers. Varying his diet will get him used to eating whatever hits the water.

what i did was give a him only one guppy in the am{this way i knew he was eating something} and then introduce the pellet at night.. if he did not eat the pellet i took it out.. one guppy in am and try pellet again at night.. went on for over a week and now he loves everything and anything i feed him and no feeders ... just did not like the idea of starving a baby..there is always the chance that they will shut down altogether..i like the idea of keeping their digestive system working.. and keeping them hungary not starved.. :D From this we established a bond also.. feeders would never do that..he relys on me..when he sees me he is a happy camper..

with any carnivore fish Ill typically give them live until I know theyll survive in my tanks, then I starve them an give frozen food.

So far Ive managed to get a CK, RCK, Sivler Aro, Jar, an two pikes off of live food.

yea right off the bat i try to bulk them up with guppies if they dont take krill or pellets right from the get go, i keep my pbass with severums to make them more active now they take pellets same with my pikes
