I have had my aimara for 2 days. I tried giving him silversides last night but he did not eat them. It has been probably 1-1.5 weeks since he ate with the prior owner. Apparently he was eating mostly live convicts and would sometimes eat shrimp if it was left over night.

Any tricks to getting them off live like is done with ATFs? I am sure he is still settling but I want to break him from live asap while he is small. I was thinking of throwing some convicts in but should I wait?

I was going to try scallops tonight and I have some fresh shrimp I need to freeze first that I can try also. I have nightcrawlers but not sure if they eat those.

Just buy some frozen tilapia, thaw it out and cut to size. Toss some in every day until he eats.

He wont starve himself I promise, just be patient.

Are there known foods that they love? I want to stay away from cheaper foods like tilapia that are farmed have tons of chemicals injected into them.

I second that. Mine didn't eat for about 2 weeks, because he was still getting used to his new environment. I cut up a piece of Talapia and threw it in every 2 days and if he didn't take it within 30 minutes I removed it. It will eventually get hungry and eat.

Wolves are not one of those species that will starved themselves to death. LOL!

Mine take fish slices of they are hungry enough.

Wow. I did not realize that aimara would do pellets. I thought that was very uncommon.

Wolves are easy to get off of live ime, I feed my 11-12" curupira massivore, he'll take freeze dried krill and shrimp from the surface, only frozen food I fed was shrimp and he took that aswell, night crawlers he's eaten in the past but doesn't like them apparently. Wolves can go a while without eating, when aimara get larger, people report them going on and off with feedings, they'll eat for a few months and then starve theirself for one or two. Best advice I can give is feed him when you turn the lights out and if it's there in the morning take it out and try again the next night. He may be settling in still, took my curupira about 6 months maybe longer to get used to me, he wouldn't come out if I were in the room for a while, then I could be in e room but not close, then he wouldn't eat infront of me, and eventually he came around, but very very slowly. It can take awhile for them to fully settle in, I'm sure your used to that from the rhom.
