I see people with such fantastic pics but I can never get any good ones myself. My camera is decent, nothing fantastic but not cheap either. What tips can anyone offer to improve my pics. Thanks.

natural lighting, no flash, low iso, macro setting, etc.

You need lots of light for good aquarium pictures, try and avoid using the on camera flash, turn off all of the lights in the room to avoid reflections, take pictures straight at the glass not on an angle to avoid distortion, I usually use a shutter speed of around 1/100 of a sec to freeze the fish. good luck :)

try to focus the eye of the fish
keep it in focus while u click and the pic will naturally be a niice one

if u have a remote flash, flash from the top always give a pretty interesting effect.
i use a dslr but not with a macro lense, but if ur cam got macro function, that'd help .

Unforunately what you've said is pretty hard in the average house. So when you've turned out all the lights in the room and can barely see what your doing with just the tank light on, that's never gonna be enough light to switch to a low ISO and use no flash. Pics would be black as my soul.
