i got really small ick problem again. how do you prevent this? any new ideas how to treat it? is it possible for my fish to wait it out or do they need treatment?

Treat it. You wait it out and your fish will be dead. Salt and high temp works nicely. How's your parameters? The more stressed your fish is the more susceptible it is to illness.

cool. thats what i did last time and it worked nicely. how much salt should i put in? im not sure how my channel will handle salt.

channels are fine with salt additions of a tablespoon per gallon.

Remember to increase aeration as you increase temp. Water holds less dissolved O2 as the temperature increases.

I would start with 1 tbs per 10 gallons and aim for 2 tbs per 10 gallons. Quick cure is also a very effective protozoan medication if you have some resilientstrain of ich. It stains silicone a bit though.

if channels are safe with 1 tbs per gallon i think i will do 1 tbs per 5 gallons and gradually increase. i also got a 200W heater that gets the job done lol. i like to keep a lower water level so my HOB filter aerates pretty nicely. ill get airstones set up eventually.
