I'm moving back to school today and its an hour away. I have a 29g tank that I'm taking down. I already have a stand set up and everything. The guy at petco said to just take out 70% of the water and drive it down. Any ideas to make the trip as safe as possible for my 2 cons?

Take out all the water and put the fish in a tub with an airstone if possible. Dont move your tank with any water in it, let alone 30%.

Ok but why? Not that I don't believe you, but whats the difference btwn filling a tub with water of leaving some water in my tank with an airstone? I mean, why can't I use my tank as the tub?

use a cooler so u can insolate the temp....think of a water change but just move your tank before u refill it and an airator would be best....every fish that ive bought ive had to wait a while before they actuallly get into my tank...being that i buy them durring work and im stll and hours drive from home

The water sloshing around in your tank causes alot of really uneven pressure to be put on it and the seams. I think an empty tank is alot easier to carry anyways instead of one sloshing around. I would just get a rubbermaid tub and put your fish in there and empty the tank. Better safe than sorry

What if lfs guy said is right

From what I've experienced, this would be a rarity. Moving tanks with water in them is a bad idea.
