Tips for over flows and sump

I just picked up a 120gal with dual over flows and a 30gal sump. I never ran a sump before so im clueless on running it. What kind of media can i use. The cheaper the better. Also it came with a pile of plastic pipes a pump and i believe 2 bulk heads. Thanks for any infos
