I have been thinking of doing a 10 gallon planted tank any tips on what plants I should use for a beginner? I would like to do a moss wall in the background but other than that I have no preference on plants

anabias nana, java fern, java moss (great carpet plant and perfect for backround close to impossible to kill) cabomba. to name a few. Easiest and cheapest way for a beautiful tank is put down some all natural dirt, mix in some kitty litter (helps with iron your plants will grow like crazy, make sure it doesnt have any purfume additves, just basic stuff), you can use a clamp dome lamp, get a daylight compact floresant bulb, (6700 kelvins) get a low watt (25 watts) or you can buy the 10 gall double tube overtop light and get a bulb with 6000-7000 kelvins. also you can make your own co2 generator, http://youtu.be/IZFM9ZpaqGM , not my video but its a perfect run through. With that setup you can have pretty much any plant you want in there and they'll grow like crazy, works for me. you might want to buy some liquid fertilizer as well. The whole setup minus plants and tank should run you $30-$40 at the most. unless you get the petstore lights. hope this helped.

Oh yeah you dont have to buy the defuser. i just put it in my over the top filter and it waterfalled into the tank.
