anyone have any tips on what type of filtration system and brand too use for a 55G tank? don't have the tank yet but its the size I'm going too get. i want too know what type of filtration system be for i go too the store too look at fish tomorrow night.
An AquaClear 110 should do the trick. According the manufacturer, it's rated for 110 gallons, but I normally get filtration rated to about twice the tank size.
yeah all you will need is an aquaclear 110 and you will be good in that deprtment i had two 70 on mine and they did great but a 110 will do the job just fine
is this the AquaClear 110? http://www.petguys.com/-015561106200.html
it says For aquariums 60 to 110 US gallons??? is it OK too over filter a tank? or will the water become so clean the fish die
and are there any where elts where i can get it cheaper? then $63?
There is no such thing as water thats to clean the fish die. As yes it is ok to over filter a tank based on what the box tells you. And in reality its not over filtering. For hang on the back filters or HOB's you want to have a tuner over rate of 10x is the perfect amount. That is what it all boils down to turn over rate. so your 55g and a 5oogph filter will have 9.009 turn over rate and thats pretty good. If you have it heavily stocked and have trouble keeping it clean adding another ac110 or emperor 400 would not hurt a thing.---------------as for getting it cheaper do a search there is a thread from dr.fosters that you can print out and take to a petsmart or other price matching chain store and get them for around 45.
