They are in there own 10G tank, plenty of flat surfaces, one flowerpot & several pieces of slate. they're not fighting, they are always together and they are male and female. Ive read that finding a compatible pair is the toughest part. Theyre both three and a half to four inches. :confused::irked:

120= arowana, disto. sexfacsiatus, red severum, electric blue jack dempsey, rtc, tsn, geo heckli, royal pleco
29 nursery tank= jardini, electric blue jack dempsey, tsnXrtc hybrid, peacock bass, florida gar, gibbiceps
10= pair of jewel cichlids

Add water and wait? Jewels are very easy to breed, almost as easy as cons. Keep up with the water changes, and you will have a spawn soon. Feed good, high quality food, as well.

Thats what i've heard and also why im a little frustrated. I'm feeding them cichlid gold & bloodworms. Should the temperature be higher than 80F.

Thank you very much for responding

How sure are you that you have a male and female? They are very hard to sex and generally are rather fussy with who they pair off with.

Once they have paired they breed like crazy but that doesn`t always happen.

I once bought two and hit the jackpot. The next time I tried with them I bought 8 and none of them ever paired off even after a year.

Show a pic of your jewels. What kind do you have? I keep mine in a 20L by themselves. Makes are much larger than females. Mine are acutally dwarf red jewels. Water temp should be at 72-80°. Softer water the better. Lots of hiding places and flat stones.

theyre red jewels
-female brighter in color, more circular body and dorsal fin slants down.
-male dorsal slants up darker and darker eye, but i dont think that part has to do with sexing
pics later possibly
