So I been have tremendous amount of luck catching rainbow trout. I fish from shore at cherry creek reservoir. The thing is I want to start catching other things than trout I have a freezer full of trout. My rig is simple hook with weight and trout bait.

Try lures, do you know what else is in the lake? I am an advocate of Bass pro shops squirmin' squirts tubes. I've caught everything on them including trout, sunfish, bass, and catfish!

Move around a lot, when I fish the reservoirs here, I move spots every 5-10 minutes unless I am catching something. give your favorite lures a few good tries and move on. I can cover a lot of ground in the 2ish hours I have between classes. Sometimes you hit them, sometime you don't. Don't get discouraged right away.

There's a reservoir that I fish at and I use rooster tails and beetle spinners for crappie and panfish, and bass spinners and frogs for bass. Try different colors for different water conditions.

+1 on the Rooster Tails, all different colors. In my 50+ year span of being a fisherman as well as a fish keeping hobbyist, The Rooster Tail, i think has probably produced more fish of every species for me than any other lure. I have a wide assortment of colors and sizes in my lure box.
