I have an external pump for my 375gallon tank. I've screwed it to my wooden stand, but it still makes a noticeable humming noise. Is there a way to make it less noisey without letting it overheat? I've also tried placing it on a rubber mat, it doesn't work.

Try getting some rubber feet for it to sit on. They make some that have a sticky surface on one side. They should help cut down on vibrations. If its screwed too tighly to the stand it may cause it to transfer all of the vibration.

Do you have pvc or flexible tubing? I put a piece of flexible hose from my pump to my T-valve also the pump sits on a piece of rubber. It is just sitting there it is not screwed to anything. hth

Can you put a box around your pump? Styrofoam type material would cut the noise a lot if you made it a tight fit to the stand. Also, I agree that no screwing the pump tightly to the stand will help.

if you secure it to something put somesort of padding between the pump and the object.and thighten down well.
