Man i wish i could trap me a bullhead. I have set minnow traps in a local creek that i have caught bullhead out of before but it has been 15 years. I have tried dog food, chicken livers, hot dogs, bread. The only thing ive been able to trap are green sunfish. I can always catch channel cats on hook and line. It is quite frustrating. Does anyone have any tips for catching bullhead? I dont know of any bullhead filthy ponds around here. I bass fish a lot of ponds around here and ive thrown a few night crawlers to see what else is in them. Rarely i will get a channel cat but never a bullhead. I am in central Indiana. Funny story i was at a large pet store the other day assuming they had no natives when i saw baby channel and blue cats. I asked a clerk if they had any bullheads and he got kind of an attitude and told me they do not carry native fish. Hm ok.

Try using rod and reel with worms or wax worms in small creek and ditches.

Check on your laws for trapping bullheads. Otherwise you can find YOY bullheads on shoreline under rocks, weeds and driftwoods.

I get them all the time while looking for crayfish. They like the rocks.

Went out this afternoon for about an hour to a ditch behind some industrial buildings. Lots of green sunfish, two bluegill and a largemouth. No bullhead. On to the next body of water. I am determined to at least find a body of water with some.

Make sure your flipping rocks over. They will hide a lot in the day. Especially under rock.
