Over there
I've had these guys for about 6 months and I've tried starving them then feeding them tilapia earthworms and pellets and they don't even look at them. I eventually started feeding them feeders again after they didn't eat for 2 months. Do any of you have any advice on how I can get them off live, I want them to eventually start eating floating carnisticks. Thanks

2 months and no luck? Wow! I had a huejta for awhile and he was always on feeders then I was lazy and missed feeding for a few days dropped a pellet in and he nabbed it up. My guy was 6" TL.

I'd say just buy a load of guppies, like a few dozen. If you have a extra tank let them breed and feed them good pellets or flake food then your huejta will always have a constant free food source that's healthy with no risk of parasites! You can even breed them in the same tank!

What brand of pellets?

I just got my bluegill on pellets. Stopped feeding for a week; dropped in various brands of pellets I feed my other fish with; he sucked it in and then spits it right back out; last week, I purchased Hikari Carnivore; dropped it in and he inhaled it and didn't spit it out; dropped in a few more, and he went right after them and kept it in; been feeding him everyday now with the HC. Glad he's off the worms and getting more nutrients now.

My old cten would eat live crickets. After he was used to eating off if there surface, I let him go hungry until he ate hikari jumbo carnisticks.

Thanks for the tips guys!

F1: my guys are about 7-8" each and it would take way too many guppies to fill them up. Plus they're in a tank with 2 H. armatus and 6 medium to large sized bichirs so even 1000 guppies wouldn't last long at all.

Xraycer: I actually incorporate massivore into my bichir's diet and the hujeta's don't even look at them. I prefer to get them on floating carnisticks so that they don't have to compete with the armatus for food.

Chicxulub: I never thought about that! I'll have to try it. Hopefully they eat the crickets and then carnisticks if I'm lucky.
